The Fullerton Bay may just be a decade old, but its prime location between two heritage buildings—Clifford Pier and Customs House—and in the vicinity of the almost century-old The Fullerton Hotel Singapore makes it a gem for history and heritage buffs. On top of that, the hotel has a reputation for being one of the most romantic hotels in Singapore—thanks to its waterfront location, built completely over the waters of the sparkling Marina Bay.

The Fullerton Bay offers one hundred rooms and suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer expansive views of the Marina Bay waterfront or city skyline. The Premier Bay View Room is fitted with an additional outdoor deck and two cosy loungers, facing Marina Bay Sands. Inside the room, the interior decor adopted a colour palette of rich creamy gold with touches of polished rosewood, burl wood, and leather that are inviting and warm.

If lounging by your private balcony overlooking Marina Bay doesn’t cut it for you, head upstairs to the rooftop pool and jacuzzi, nestled within a manicured tropical landscape. The roof is outfitted with many loungers, and at night a section of the rooftop transforms into Lantern, a rooftop bar named after Clifford Pier’s historic Chinese name, Red Lantern Pier. Dig into gourmet bar bites and sip on champagnes and cocktails after a night swim.

The Fullerton Bay Hotel may be surrounded by a wealth of dining establishments, but why head out when you can enjoy excellent dining just steps from your room? Breakfast was served in the form of an à la carte menu at The Landing Point while La Brasserie offers classic French bistro favourites.

After six months of closure, Mandarin Oriental Singapore has finally reopened with an extensive transformation led by principal designer Jeffrey Wilkes of Designwilkes, the same creative who dreamed up the interiors of Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Wilkes wanted the experience of staying in Mandarin Oriental Singapore to be homely and comforting—something he accomplishes as soon as you walk into the hotel.

Rooms take cues from various scenes outside their windows. For example, Marina Bay-facing rooms are dressed in batik-inspired patterns and a cool colour palette that complements the Marina Bay waters; while rooms facing the South China Sea have warm tones reminiscent of the morning sun.

The newly reopened hotel offers a range of facilities to choose from. Stay at the suite and you’ll have access to the hotel’s private lounge, Haus 65. Similar to the hotel rooms, the newly transformed space blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. Facing the city, the lounge is decked out in lush botanical prints and an elegant shade of green. Co-curated by the team at members-only Mandala Club, hotel guests are given a glimpse of the exclusive club—think regular cultural, culinary and artistic events.

Take a trip to Embu for delectable food. Previously known as Melt Cafe, the all-day dining concept continues to offer a la carte and buffet menus. Its spread is extensive, ranging from fresh seafood on ice to noodle and rice stations.

One of the main draws of St Regis Singapore is its central location, being steps away from the lush Singapore Botanic Gardens as well as at the quiet end of Orchard Road. While many hotels in Singapore proffer a modern tropical look or colonial-style interiors, St Regis is unapologetically classic—adhering to the ethos of founder John Jacob Astor IV when he established the first St Regis in New York over a century ago.

Step into the hotel and you can’t help but be swept away by the splendour of the design. The hotel has 229 rooms including several signature suites. The Caroline Astor Suite clocks in a total of 90sqm and looks even bigger thanks to the living room’s full-length windows, which bring in plenty of natural light and offer an amazing view of the Singapore skyline. The panorama is best enjoyed at sunset, ideally with a sundowner at hand. The interiors are glamorous much like the society maven the room is named after, with gold accents, rich fabrics, plush furniture, tufted details and a Chinoiserie-inspired accent wall in the bedroom.

The hotel has a decent-sized pool, a well-equipped gym and a full-service spa—all of which are fully operational but booking is highly recommended. The Remède Spa is an intimate retreat with facilities such as a Cedarwood Finnish sauna, eucalyptus-scented steam chambers and unique treatments such as the award-winning Warm Vichy Shower Massage and the 90-minute Black Soap and Rassoul Hammam Ritual.

St Regis also houses various bars and restaurants with signature dining experiences like the weekend dim sum brunch at Yan Ting and omakase meals at Shinji by Kanesaka (both notoriously booked weeks in advance). It’s best to maximise your stay here to experience what the hotel has to offer; the concierge will help you secure tables, too.
