BMW and Tatler Kong Kong hosted an evening of education and dining, dedicated to environmentally friendly living

Sustainability lies at the heart of the legendary German carmaker BMW’s operations—and this ethos was showcased in style at its recent Drive Towards Sustainability event, held at its luxurious Wan Chai showroom in partnership with Tatler Hong Kong.

This unique evening offered guests the chance to explore BMW’s wide-reaching sustainability initiatives and innovations—including its mission to produce the world’s greenest electric cars by reducing carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of its vehicles. In fact, it has already lowered emissions by more than 70 per cent since 2006, with a plan to reduce them by a further 80 per cent by 2030.

Guests took the opportunity to admire BMW’s revolutionary, top-of-the-line electric car models—the iX and i5—up close and in person. Both have been designed to seamlessly combine emission-free driving pleasure with sporty agility and refined comfort.

Of course, BMW’s zeal for green living extends far beyond its own business, with the event dedicated to showcasing another of the city’s eco-conscious leaders—green Michelin-starred restaurant Roganic.

Roganic is one of only two restaurants in Hong Kong to hold a Michelin green star, awarded for its commitment to sustainable dining practices. Created by Roganic’s head chef Adam Catterall, the evening’s menu was rooted in sustainability—with guests enjoying an exquisite selection of canapés followed by a superb four-course dinner, complete with creative drink pairings.

The evening’s meal incorporated a variety of delicious ingredients grown right here in Hong Kong; while Chunling Fong, local farmer and founder of regenerative farming cooperative Farmhouse Productions, joined guests for a fascinating fireside chat, moderated by car fanatic Carson Chan. Discussing the benefits of regenerative farming and tips for how to a lead more sustainable life, Fong’s words of wisdom offered much food for thought.

Following an insightful speech from BMW’s managing director Frederic Bottlang, further entertainment was provided by acclaimed harpist Arielle Wong, who wowed guests with two beautiful performances of classical pieces chosen to complement the evening’s nature-centric theme.

Aside from BMW’s own stunning electric cars, Farmhouse Productions’ homegrown vegetables were also on display at the showroom, and guests were given a selection of local produce to take home.

By bringing together pioneers in sustainability, BMW’s vibrant celebration of green living was a night to remember—not only showcasing sustainability in action, but also offering a thoughtful reminder to incorporate eco-conscious practices into our daily lives.
