The football legend and Danny Yeung, the brains behind Prenetics, the Hong Kong firm that’s one of the world’s largest genetic testing companies, are joining forces for a new venture
Danny Yeung, CEO and co-founder of the Hong Kong-born health sciences company Prenetics, is celebrating a new milestone.
Yeung, who is a Tatler’s Asia’s Most Influential honouree, has announced a partnership between Prenetics and football legend, entrepreneur and philanthropist David Beckham. The latter has become a strategic investor in the firm. Prenetics and Beckham will be co-founding partners of IM8, a health and wellness brand, which will offer cutting-edge health products.
“Our connection with David Beckham last year was really serendipitous. David is passionate about health and wellness,” Yeung tells Tatler. He had connected with Beckham at an exclusive event in 2023.

Beckham also met professor Dennis Lo, one of Hong Kong’s most renowned scientific figures, who is famed for his groundbreaking work in non-invasive prenatal testing. Lo, also a Tatler’s Asia’s Most Influential honouree, is a shareholder in Prenetics; and along with Yeung, he is a co-founder of Insighta, which offers a new form of genetic testing for cancer.
“After he [Beckham] spent time with Prenetics shareholder, professor Dennis Lo, during which he learnt about professor Lo’s pioneering discovery of non-invasive prenatal testing in 1997 and [his] current focus on early cancer detection, he was keen to find ways to partner—and we could not be more excited about it,” Yeung says.
