We check in to this iconic Hong Kong city hotel whose restaurants boast 8 Michelin stars and check out the luxurious rooms, renovated in 2021

A mainstay of luxury in Hong Kong, the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong stands as one of the city’s most iconic properties. Its unrivalled location, with direct access to the Airport Express and the International Finance Centre (IFC), ensures that it is not just a hotel but a gateway to both business and leisure opportunities.

It is also, for foodies, a must-visit culinary destination, boasting presently eight Michelin stars across four restaurants: Caprice, Lung Hing Keen, Noi, and Sushi Saito.

This was our first visit since the extensive 2021 renovations and we were eager to explore how the revamped spaces and services have elevated this already prestigious address.

Given the ease of access, we arrived via Airport Express. From the station, it is a short sub-five-minute promenade to the hotel’s light-filled lobby.

The Four Seasons Hong Kong presents a striking yet welcoming entrance. The spacious lobby, with its warm and elegant décor, immediately sets a tone of sophistication. The recent renovation includes an impressive art collection curated by Sow Art Solutions, which reflects the city’s vibrant character. Noteworthy pieces include Tamar Zinn’s dynamic abstract works and Kassia Ko’s tranquil ink wash paintings. These artworks contribute to a refined and visually engaging environment.

We particularly love the collection of art by Raku Inoue, titled Natura Insects, on display in Argo, the hotel’s award-winning bar and lounge. To fit Argo’s botanical-themed interior, Sow Art Solutions and the Montreal-based Japanese artist collaborated to create a custom series of paper sculptures featuring living things. These cut-out pieces are mounted on base structures, forming the shapes of botanical garden creatures. Alongside these artworks are framed pressed herbarium decors that seamlessly blend into Argo’s overall interior and create a serene botanical garden ambience.  It offers guests an inner-city oasis to enjoy unique cocktails and unwind from the cosmopolitan hustles.

The recent renovation of the hotel’s 399 guest rooms and suites has really reinforced the hotel as one of Hong Kong's most elegant properties. Each room is designed to maximise the stunning views of Victoria Harbour, ensuring that the vista becomes an integral part of the experience. The interiors blend contemporary design with classic elements, featuring rich textures like silk and velvet, and a soothing colour palette of neutral tones accented with deep blues and greens that echo the harbour views.

The spacious rooms now boast bespoke furniture crafted from high-quality materials, such as dark wood and polished metal, which add a touch of sophistication. The new design incorporates a modern, open-plan layout that enhances the feeling of space and light.

State-of-the-art technology is seamlessly integrated, with intuitive control systems for lighting, climate, and entertainment, making it easy for guests to tailor their environment to their preferences.

Luxurious touches are evident in the upgraded marble bathrooms, which feature deep soaking tubs with panoramic views of the harbour, separate rain showers, and double vanities. High-end amenities and custom-designed toiletries provide a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own room. The carefully curated artwork, including Lidia Buente’s colourful paper collages and Kassia Ko’s tranquil ink wash pieces, adds a local artistic flair that complements the room’s elegant décor.
