Yabu Pushelberg-designed interiors elevate luxury living at Aman Residences Tokyo in Japan's tallest residential tower

In the heart of Tokyo’s newly unveiled Azabudai Hills development, Aman, the brand synonymous with luxury hospitality, has launched its first standalone residential project.

Rising from the summit of the Mori JP Tower, Aman Residences Tokyo offers a unique blend of urban sophistication and the serene tranquillity that defines the Aman experience.

The Aman Residences, housed on the top eleven floors of Japan’s tallest residential building, designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners, boasts 91 exquisitely serviced apartments. However, it is the interior envisioned by Yabu Pushelberg that truly transforms this space into a sanctuary of serenity amidst the bustling city.

Aman turned to Yabu Pushelberg, the renowned international design studio with offices in Toronto and New York, to bring the interiors of this project to life.

Founded by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, the studio is celebrated for its transformative designs in luxury hotels and high-end retail spaces worldwide, from the Park Hyatt in New York to Louis Vuitton stores worldwide.

For Aman Residences Tokyo, the design vision was inspired by the elements, exploring the delicate balance between land, sea, and sky, uniting this with the Aman aesthetic of Asian style with European influences.

This theme is reflected throughout the interiors, where meticulous attention to detail ensures that each space is a harmonious blend of comfort and elegance.

Yabu Pushelberg’s design ethos is evident in every corner, from the soft, earthbound colour palette that adds warmth and texture to the extensive display of artworks that bring additional colour and dimension to the property.

Upon entering, residents are welcomed by a private entrance leading to elevators that ascend directly to the residential floors. The arrival lobby itself embodies the project’s design philosophy, featuring a suspended sculpture above a tranquil reflection pond—a design element intended to root residents in nature, even in the heart of the city.

Beyond the residences, the amenities elevate everyday living to a luxurious art form. The Aman lifestyle permeates every aspect of the experience, from the serene Aman Spa with its 25-meter pool and extensive wellness facilities to the intimate lounges and dining spaces.

These shared spaces, designed with a careful balance of the elements, provide not just beauty but a profound connection to the natural world.

The interiors are bathed in muted, natural tones that evoke the earth’s layers, bringing warmth and texture to every corner. A thoughtfully curated extensive art collection adds splashes of colour and depth, creating an environment that is both soft and ethereal.

Yabu Pushelberg’s design seamlessly blends Japanese cultural references with a Western approach to texture and comfort, resulting in a space that is as welcoming as it is elegant.
