For her dedication in reaching for the stars
As an analogue astronaut—one who undertakes simulated missions on Earth—Kristine Jane Atienza spent six days on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano as part of the Hawai’i Space Exploration Analog and Simulation. She took on the role of nutrition specialist and medical officer, working in Martian conditions. She has participated in multiple analogue space missions as a crew and researcher, and is member of the Space Generation Advisory Council.
