The Asian beauty scene has grown by leaps and bounds, thanks to K-beauty and J-beauty. Is it now time for Thai beauty to take the spotlight? If so, Pañpuri could be a contender

Thai luxury wellness brand Pañpuri has just come to Hong Kong, and even from the launch event, we could tell it’s a label that takes luxury seriously. Take the media meet-and-greet, for instance, which took place, not at the brand’s flagship boutique at K11 Musea but at The Orangery in Rosewood Hong Kong, immediately immersing guests in a sense of indulgence and wellness.

It's a fitting launch for a brand that has won numerous awards in Thailand and abroad, such as the 2022 Asean Tourism Standard Award for Asean Spa Service Standards and the Top GoWabi Massage & Spa—an award granted by Bangkok’s GoWabi, a website that curates more than 300 beauty and health services.

In Hong Kong for the launch, the founder and CEO Vorravit Siripark talks about his inspiration behind founding this holistic beauty brand in 2003. “As a little boy growing up in Bangkok, I used to watch my grandmother place jasmine petals into a jar of cold water in an earthenware pot. This would give off a soothing floral smell that would soon envelop the whole room,” he says.

“I also became interested in Asian and Eastern approaches to wellness such as using natural ingredients and applying local wisdom such as fermentation, extraction and natural distillation to obtain pure ingredients. This all-natural approach has become a part of our brand since the beginning. Also at the root of our brand is Thai hospitality, which evokes humility and delicacy. When we started, all these elements were rare to find in a single brand. Pañpuri therefore brought everything together, both personal interests and my belief in the Asian way of life.”

At present, Pañpuri has a wide range of products, such as perfume oils, home fragrances, body oils, hand lotions, cleansers and more. It has also partnered with the spas at Park Hyatt Hotel Bangkok and the Eastern and Oriental Hotel, Penang, Malaysia.

Siripark reveals there will be an extra-special feature at the Hong Kong boutique. Inside the shop will be a Bespoke Sensorial Bar where guests are invited to design their own signature scent with the guidance of Pañpuri Scent Specialists. The brand has also unveiled a Hong Kong-only scent, the Heaven Moon Osmanthus Hong Kong edition, which has notes of moringa mixed with citrus and Asian spices.

Siripark also shared why the brand makes perfume oils, instead of perfumes. “We don’t want to use alcohol in our products as it might cause irritation in some people. Pañpuri has focused on oil since the beginning of the brand because using oil helps reduce the carbon footprint in the production of products significantly. In addition, Panpuri has created the ZeroList™ mark, which is a brand standard through which we reject the use of more than 2,300 ingredients that may cause irritation or harm to health or harm to animals and the environment. We don’t test on animals and we don’t have animal-derived ingredients in any product.”

Ultimately, it’s Pañpuri’s thrust towards all-natural ingredients—think jasmine, tuberose, fig and more—while sticking to its Asian roots that give it such a holistic vibe.

Indeed, the Asian beauty scene has grown by leaps and bounds in recent decades, with K-beauty and J-beauty already making a significant impact globally. Is it now time for Thai beauty to take the spotlight? If so, Pañpuri is poised to be a leading contender in the game.
