Perched at the top of Gloucester Tower, Cardinal Point is a rooftop restaurant, bar lounge and sky terrace that overlooks the city and offers views of Victoria Harbour, along with live music by a resident DJ.

The drinks programme, developed by Leading Nation's beverage director John Nugent, is inspired by the notion of travel—as indicated by its name which refers to the four main points of the compass. From “Sexy Tropical” cocktails such as the Boujie Banana with Jameson Irish whiskey, allspice, banana, and kakigori ice to “New Wave” cocktails including the Chips & Dip, made with tequila blanco, dry vermouth, poblano, melon, citrus and cheese nachos.

Named for the cockatoos that flit around the nearby park, this rooftop bar and lounge is the perfect spot for social butterflies. With the cityscape stretching out, punters come here for the creative cocktails—many with names inspired by the local flora and fauna—to be enjoyed al fresco. Located in Central’s Alexandra House, Grand Majestic Sichuan is a luxurious escape from the city. Designed by Sydney-based interior designer Melissa Collison, the grand dining room emulates a '70s-era supper club and has been dressed in marble, silk and Gucci wallpapers. Two bars pour craft cocktails and an Old World-focused wine, while a lush terrace makes for a perfect spot for after-meal drinks surrounded by Central’s sea of glittering skyscrapers. 

After the closure of much-loved space in Central, Honi Honi Tiki Cocktail Lounge re-emerged in the quaint neighbourhood of Tai Hang as Maka Hiki Tropical Bar & Grill, a new and transportive venue that continues founder Maxence Traverse's affinity for tiki culture.

Maka Hiki translates to 'new beginning' in Hawaiian and takes inspiration from a wide range of island and beach sanctuaries scattered from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, Polynesia to Southeast Asia, complete with a leafy outdoor terrace to contribute to the feeling of escape.

Crowning the top of H Code, Wav Rooftop is the alfresco section of Trilogy, the newly opened, 7,000-square-foot nightlife hotspot conceived by the Singular Concepts hospitality group. Channeling the beachside vibes of Phuket, Miami and Bali, Wav features panoramic views of the Central cityscape, with Tai Kwun on one side and the harbour on the other. With its cabanas and sunset DJ series, it's the place to be when it comes to sundown drinks.

The Kerry Hotel enlisted Andre Fu to design the sleek interior of Red Sugar, whose exposed brick and pipes reflect Hung Hom’s industrial past. Still, many patrons zip right through to the terrace, drawn by views of the harbour and skyline.

Take your pick of high-top seating or one of the clusters of chairs and tables, secluded by well-placed plants. Servers know their stuff, able to recommend a whisky or craft beer, and cocktails change up to reflect the seasons and creative themes.

Sugar boasts one of the best harbour views in the city, with comfortable lounge seating and ambient lounge music setting the tone for the evening ahead. Pick your sundowner from a wide-ranging cocktail list or stick with the classics and order from an extensive selection of wine and spirits. With its sweeping vista and open air terrace, Skye may remind you of great rooftop bars of Bangkok—and the passport-style menu should also whisk you away to sunnier climes. The moody illuminated bar and low seating give it a slight club vibe, and the creative international cocktails with ingredients that swerve from mezcal to akavit, ginseng to pandan, add an extra layer of intrigue.

While the mid-century-inspired interiors are delightful, in clement weather, the expansive outdoor terrace, dotted with tropical greenery, makes Terrible Baby a true gem in the heart of Kowloon. The terrace is the ideal place to indulge in the extensive menu of shisha, as well as the fun, quirky list of cocktails that celebrate tropical flavours, such as pineapple and hibiscus.
