While there has been much talk about gender equality and how women too can be great leaders, however, the requirements are not the same. People have a higher expectation from women managers. They are not gauged by the same rules that men are subjected to. It is entirely possible to lose all the attention and interest from your team members and your clients if you cannot make a significant and lasting impression. If your work environment requires you to be serious but you are a friendly person who loves a good laugh, integrate that into your job environment.
When they say it is better to give than to receive, they are right. When trying to create a lasting impression on people, deposit. During a conversation, people end up feeling exhausted or motivated. If you want to leave people feeling energized and motivated, give them something they can remember you with. Be positive about what they do and how each decides to work especially if their output is excellent even though their methods are not what you are used to. Inspire them to be great by telling them that they are the best team you have worked with. People tend to gravitate towards people who encourage and appreciate them.
To be a great leader, you have to appreciate everyone as they are. People’s culture and personality types have been developed over several years and sometimes decades. If people feel that you are judging them because of who they are and how they look, you will disgust them. Every time they hear your name, they will frown. They will know that you don’t like them and it does not matter how much effort they put in their work. Even though you don’t plan to do anything to them, the fact that they feel judge will have them on the defensive. To them, nothing you ever say or do will be right. It is challenging to convince people that you are not judgmental if they felt you were judging them the first time you met.

What many leaders fail to understand is that the way you approach issues and the way you lead wi0ll show people how they should do things. For instance, if a customer comes to you with a complaint on a product and you do not call your staff to solve the issue and you get the problem solved yourself, your employees will feel that you know what it’s like to work under the same conditions they do. You will gain a lot more respect and will make a lasting impression.
